MEET FRANCESCA POPESCU IFE AND LEARN ABOUT HER FPI ART INITIATIVE.

CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF?
My name is Francesca Popescu Ife, I am originally from San Francisco, CA. I moved to New York City at eighteen to pursue my degree in fashion design. I was a denim designer for over ten years but after working as a designer for some of the leading retailers in the country, I decided it was time to make a change. Art and design have always been a passion of mine, so I decided to attain a master’s in art business. After completing my master’s, I launched my company, FPI Art Initiative which combines my love for art and design.
HOW DO YOU START YOUR CAREER IN THE ART INDUSTRY?
I have always been a great admirer of art and an artist by trade. I grew up painting and apprenticed with a local painter in the Bay Area. When I was in high school, I decided that I wanted to transition and pursue a degree and professional career in fashion design. Everything around us is a work of art from architecture to the interiors to the clothing we wear. Art is all around us, and it brings out our emotions and provides us with a form of expression that is unique to each of us.

WHAT IS THE FPI ART INITIATIVE?
I recently founded my company FPI Art Initiative which is a platform for emerging to mid-career international artists to curate their works within luxury home spaces in New York City. This provides artists with a platform to network with art world professionals, collectors, designers, and creatives alike to view their work. The foundation of what I curate is to offer opportunities for artists to be able to showcase their art and be able to interact with the viewer within an intimate home space. My art shows also provide the viewer with an opportunity to conceptualize how these works of art live within a home space combining elements of painting, sculpture, and furniture.
WHAT DO FLOWERS MEAN TO YOU? WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE?
I absolutely adore flowers and flower arrangements! They fill my world with so much beauty and life. Flowers are a work of art created by Mother Nature. Each flower has its own unique look and fragrance and they add so much to a space. In their own right flower arrangements are sculptural works of art that add color and life to a space. Similarly, to viewing a work of art for the first time, viewing a beautiful flower arrangement has an impactful effect on me, enhancing all my senses. In all that I do, I always like to include flower arrangements as it adds to the ambiance of any space. There are many types of flowers I like but a couple of my favorite flowers are peonies and ranunculus.
