CAN YOU TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF?

I'm a native New Yorker, originally from Park Slope, Brooklyn. I had a unique experience growing up in a very diverse environment and witnessed New York City (especially Brooklyn) evolve over the years. From exploring the city as a young kid, I remember all the different personalities and cultures buzzing in different neighborhoods around NYC. The vibrancy always kept me on my toes and interested in new places, cultures & experiences. My wife Francesca and I love to travel and we often curate itineraries that explore lesser-known areas that may not be on the top of an everyday tourist's list (which seems to be getting tougher with the social media landscape these days!). I prefer going where the locals go and finding those hidden gems with an authentic vibe. When others go left, I like to go right!

WHAT IS YOUR STORY BEHIND BUILDING CREATIVE COMMUNITIES?

I was young but I still remember when many NYC neighborhoods were heavily artist focused. From artist lofts and residencies in Dumbo, Soho and LES, there was a real creative, artistic community that made certain neighborhoods tight-knit, energetic and edgy. A lot of that has been replaced as many areas became more attractive to families and young professionals. I just think it's incredibly important not to forget a neighborhood's roots. Areas and demographics will change according to demand and a free capital market but as they do, new residents should find a way to support local artists and creatives that were at the forefront of making the neighborhood vibrant in the first place. Through my company, Point Light Hospitality, I hope to play a small role in bringing those creative spirits together as well as introducing people to emerging talent.

I believe that if an artist has a special venue to perform and is treated as the priority, the art will only be enhanced and create the optimal experience for the audience

WHAT IS POINT LIGHT’S MAIN GOAL?

With 15 years of hospitality and commercial real estate experience, Point Light's mission is to shed light, connect dots and open doors for the creative community. We form partnerships with unique venues, creative brands and supporters of the music and art world to curate events and create opportunities for artists. My background is in the real estate industry and my goal is to use knowledge and relationships in the industry to open doors to unique venues for artists to showcase their art. I believe that if an artist has a special venue to perform and is treated as the priority, the art will only be enhanced and create the optimal experience for the audience.

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST PASSION IN LIFE?

It’s too hard to pick one so I’m going with 3; Music, Real Estate & Travel. Music was constantly playing in my home growing up, even from my father’s Roc-Ola jukebox from the 1940’s. My home environment is the same way today. I love the dynamics, history and design aspects of real estate. Whether it’s having the knowledge and feel for what will become the next emerging vibrant neighborhood or understanding the strengths and weaknesses of shopping centers around the country, it’s all fascinating to me. Travel allows me to bring the two passions of real estate and music together as I explore different neighborhoods, architecture, nightlife, and cultures.

WHAT DO FLOWERS MEAN TO YOU? WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE?

Flowers are a symbol of life and beauty. They elevate a room when done properly. I also love seeing Francesca’s face light up when I buy her some! Provence is one of my favorite places so I’m going with Lavender as my favorite.
